Dr Suja Sawafta

Suja Sawafta is a Palestinian-American writer, scholar and critic. She is Assistant Professor of Arabic Studies at the University of Miami. Her first academic monograph, Abdulrahman Munif: Exile and Dissidence in the Making of the Arabic Novel is under contract with Edinburgh University Press. She is the author of Two Shores, One Sea: Longing for Palestine's Mediterranean (forthcoming Bored Wolves, 2026) and the editor of a special issue of the International Poetry Review on the Arab Spring. Her public writing has appeared in Senses of Cinema, The Baffler, Vogue Arabia, Ballast, The Boston Globe, Grazia Middle East, ArabLit Quarterly and elsewhere.
