Commissioned by US religious publisher IVP it is an attempt to raise awareness in churches of the situation in Palestine and Israel.

The book frames a liberation theology - garth calls it a 'Bethlehem theology' - that underpins the work of Amos trust, the charity that garth founded. This liberating theology of justice reflected by Martin Luther King, and later archbishop tutu, joins with the liberation theology of the Palestinian Christians seen most powerfully in the Kairos Palestine document.
